Impact of AI on Student Retention
AI will disrupt campus life in all sorts of ways, some good, some bad. Will the disruptions help or hurt underrepresented, first generation and otherwise challenged students? Will AI increase the “digital divide,” or can AI, applied judicially, decrease it? How else will it disrupt life in higher ed?
Scott Latham, in the 4/25/25 Chronicle of Higher Education (“Are you Ready for the AI University?”), concludes:
“We are awash in predictions about the impact of Artificial Intelligence on higher education…AI will continue to insert into the classroom, forever altering the relationship between students and professors.”
Join us on Friday, Oct. 24, at Goodwin University, or on Zoom, to hear an expert, Dr. Ebenezer Afarikumah, who teaches business and technology at Goodwin, and has recently released a book on AI; hear a panel of experts respond; hear what a group of diverse students think about and use AI; and discuss strategies for addressing the challenges and disruptions posed by AI.
There is no charge for this event, which will be co-sponsored by Goodwin University and will include a light breakfast, lunch catered by Black Bamboo; and the opportunity to get a signed copy of Dr. Eben’s book, AI FOR EVERYONE: A Beginner's Guide to Understanding and Using Artificial Intelligence.
