HIGH IMPACT RETENTION PRACTICES

Retention – the persistence of students from enrollment to graduation – results from many factors that occur over time. The “big picture” for retention is a continuum that links K-12 education to higher education, and that recognizes “risk factors” inherent to underrepresented or first generation children and youth that are often not eliminated when those youth enroll in higher education.

This comprehensive review, gleaned from multiple sources and compiled by CHERE Director David Johnston, beginning in 2014 and continuing since, shares highlights of High Impact Retention Practices.
